A variety of upgrades can be applied to the home and workshop in My Time at Sandrock, but the new structures and decorations need to be purchased.

There are plenty of house upgrades to choose from in My Time at Sandrock, but the method for purchasing and applying them can be unclear. The house customization options include various decorations and home expansions, including an awning, chicken coop, barn, and chimney. Each upgrade costs a specified amount of Gol, the currency used in shops throughout the game.

The quickest and easiest way to obtain more Gol is to complete commissions, such as crafting and delivering a furnace in My Time at Sandrock. At the start of the game, only one commission will be available each day, but completing them will eventually lead to more commission requests coming in daily. Gol can also be earned by selling items, completing main missions, or taking on side quests. House upgrades can be applied one at a time as players get Gol, or all at once after gathering a large amount of this currency.

Along with Gol, players will also need materials, such as stone slates or wooden boards, to purchase new decorations and structures. Behind the workshop, there's a sign to interact with that will let players expand their yard for 1,000 Gol. This can be done at any time, but it's the only upgrade that can be acquired directly from the workshop in My Time at Sandrock. For all other home upgrades and decorations, players will need to go into town.

In order to get new structures, accessories, and other house upgrades, players will need to visit Construction Junction, the shop run by Heidi near City Hall, where there's a hidden chest in My Time at Sandrock. Once inside, the Construction Junction Manual on Heidi's desk near the entrance can be used to start upgrading and customizing the house and workshop area. Additionally, if any materials are missing, they may be available to purchase in the Construction Junction shop.

Along with accessories, such as awnings and signs, the Construction Junction Manual's Architecture menu allows players to change their roof, add additional floors, and change or increase their home's size in My Time at Sandrock. The Structures menu initially has a barn, assembly station, chicken coop, and hutch, which can be used for the livestock and pets that players are able to acquire.

Upgrades can be moved, rotated, and placed by clicking and dragging on each item until players are satisfied with the positioning. Multiple upgrades, like adding floors and increasing home size in My Time at Sandrock, can be purchased at once. The store will display the total amount of Gols needed to apply any upgrades that have been selected in the bottom right corner of the screen. As players progress in the main story and start earning more Gol, additional upgrades can be purchased for the home and workshop in My Time at Sandrock.
