With so many Slimes ot care for, being a rancher in Slime Rancher 2 is a tough job.

Slime Rancher 2 is full of the slimes players are already familiar with from the first game, and although not all slimes have returned, Slime Rancher 2 also introduces a handful of new slimes to capture and take care of.

Because Slime Rancher 2 is currently an Early Access title, there may be more brand-new or returning slimes added in future updates, but, as of writing, there are a total of 18 different types of slimes when not counting the many combinations of largo slimes you can produce.

Named for their coloration, Pink Slimes are the easiest to find and are the de facto mascot of the series. Pink Slimes will eat anything, so they're the easiest to feed. After being fed, they will produce Pink Plorts, which net the smallest amount of money.

It's best to make sure you don't have too many Pink Slimes without proper containment, since they may end up eating your crops and livestock. These happy little guys don't mean any harm by it; they just get hungry, but it's quite easy for new ranchers to keep them well-fed, contained, and generally happy.

These rabbit-like slimes are known for being the highest jumpers, meaning they can escape enclosures when they aren't adequately equipped with preventative measures such as higher walls and an air net.

Cotton Slimes have a diet of veggies, and although you might expect carrots to be their favorite food, it's actually water lettuce which is not quite as common, but still easily obtainable. Cotton Slimes produce Cotton Plorts when fed, giving you a useful material to craft with.

Phosphor Slimes are reminiscent of fireflies and only appear at night. Due to their bioluminescence, Phosphor Slimes can be easy to spot once they start appearing. Phosphor Slimes only eat fruit, with their favorite being Cuberries.

Unlike many other slimes, Phosphor Slimes, related Largo Slimes, and Phosphor Plorts are affected by sunlight. They will disappear if exposed to it for too long, so keeping them in an area not exposed to sunlight is recommended. High Walls and Air Nets are also a must for any corral filled with Phosphor Slimes, since they can use their wings to jump out.

The first of the feline-based slimes, these gray cat-like slimes only eat meat, so the easiest way to keep them well-fed and happy is by having a chicken coop filled with plenty of Hen Hens and Roostros. If they escape their corral, they won't only end up eating what's in the chicken coop, but will also steal veggies and fruits from nearby gardens.

Their stealing may also cause Largos to appear and cause even more trouble. Tabby Plorts are used for performance-enhancing products and, as such, can net a decent amount of money early on.

Largo Slimes are giant slimes that have consumed a plort they do not produce, causing them to grow and take on characteristics of the producer of said plort. Due to their size, Largo Slimes cannot fit in the Vacpack and instead only reach the nozzle, so they can still be moved.

Largo Slimes will produce two different types of plorts when fed: the plort it originally produced, and whatever type of plort it ate to become a Largo. When fed their favorite foods, Largo Slimes will produce two of each plort.

Any Largo Slimes that haven't eaten in a long time will become Feral Slimes and behave more aggressively as a result. It's easy to tell when a Largo Slime has become feral as their facial expression changes, their eyes become red, and red sparks will be seen around them.

Unlike Tarr Slimes, Feral Slimes don't reproduce and can be easily satiated by being fed. Feeding Feral Slimes will also cause them to produce plorts as they would when not in a Feral state. Feral Slimes can also still become Tarr as any Largo can, so appetite management is a must.

If a Largo Slime eats a plort it doesn't produce; it will turn into a Tarr Slime. Tarr Slimes are hostile slimes that eat other slimes to create more Tarr Slime, which causes an outbreak. They may seem nocturnal due to their appearance, but can appear anytime.

If there's no way to obtain fresh water to eliminate them, then the only ways are to throw them into the sea or incinerate them, which is easier said than done when dealing with an outbreak. The appearance of Tarr Slimes can also be disabled in the options for those who want a more casual experience.

Gordo Slimes are another type of giant slime, but unlike Largo Slimes, they are stationary and are usually seen blocking entrances to pathways or small areas with essential items. Gordo Slimes are what happens when a large group of the same type of slime all gather in one place, and once it's fed enough food, it will burst back into the slimes it consisted of.

Gordo Slimes have the same diet as whatever slimes they're made of, but don't produce any plorts from eating.

Rock Slimes aren't slimes made of rock, but rather blue slimes named for the rocky spikes of their heads. Rock Slimes also enjoy rolling around, and while they mean no harm by it, they can end up hurting any ranchers who happen to be in their path. Rock Slimes don't eat rocks either, but instead, prefer to eat veggies like Heartbeets.

This means that having Rock Slimes in a corral can be dangerous when collecting Rock Plorts, a valuable resource used to create the durable yet lightweight blue metal alloy, so it's best to have a plort collector on their corral.

Honey Slimes are slimes that look like they're made of honey, and the substance their bodies are made of is strangely similar as well. It has been speculated that their diet of fruits like Mint Mangoes has caused their cells to replicate the natural sugars, affecting both their appearance and the plorts they produce.

Because of their sweetness, Honey Plorts are commonly used as an ingredient, and when refined, they become almost too sweet for human consumption. The biggest drawback of wrangling up Honey Slimes is that other nearby slimes will go after their plorts, becoming Largos or Tarr as a result.

Gold Slimes are impossible to capture and the hardest to find, but they will produce gold plorts if a rancher hits them with any plort or food. When Gold Slimes appear, a sparkle sound effect will be heard, but they are speedy and will run away when they see a rancher nearby. Gold Slimes have no favorite food in Slime Rancher 2, but previously would only eat Gilded Ginger.

Unlike most other slimes, Gold Slimes cannot be eaten by Tarr Slimes, although having a Gold Slime appear at the same time as a Tarr outbreak is still a hectic event to deal with.

Hunter Slimes are another type of feline-inspired slime related to Tabby Slimes, but are much rarer. Hunter Slimes get their name from their unique cloaking ability, which makes every part of their bodies invisible except their eyes. Like Tabby Slimes, Hunter Slimes prefer to eat chickens, with Roostros being their favorite food.

Due to the wild nature of Hunter Slimes, any Hunter Largo will become feral once it's created. While not used to make any material, plorts produced by Hunter Slimes are notable in that they can be used for a serum that grants anyone who takes it temporary invisibility.

Boom Slimes are slimes that take on a magma-like appearance and are primarily known for exploding. The cause of their constant exploding is their slime cells, which always vibrate and overwhelm the slime with energy. A Bloom Slime's explosions are not harmful to it, however, and the only side effect is that they may be temporarily stunned.

While Boom Slimes can be difficult and even dangerous for ranchers to contain, an experienced rancher can use them to collect Boom Plorts, which are used for all kinds of explosive technology like rocket thrusters, and may even be helpful for medical technology.

Similar to Rock Slimes, Crystal Slimes have sharp spikes on their bodies that can be harmful to ranchers. Additionally, Crystal Slimes can produce sharp and hot crystals in the surrounding environment to expel their body heat. Luckily, these crystals can be destroyed by water, and if the slimes themselves are cooled off with water, then they'll temporarily stop producing crystals.

The Crystal Plorts that Crystal Slimes produce are separate from the crystals they produce when rolling around. They are used to make transparent metals commonly used as material for buildings on Earth, allowing more natural light to shine through large cities.

Puddle Slimes are watery slimes that only live in shallow bodies of water, and if they are outside of water for too long, they will evaporate. While Puddle Slimes can be challenging to manage, they're less rambunctious than other slimes and prefer to be in groups of four slimes or less due to their shyness.

Due to their water-absorbing diet, the plorts that Puddle Slimes produce are made of H20hhhhh, a compound similar to water that many say tastes the same, but is used to create a more expensive premium brand of bottled water.

Fire Slimes are the polar opposite of Puddle Slimes, as they live in pools of lava and feed on ash, but they will similarly disappear when placed in any unsuitable environment. Because of their bodies, Fire Slimes should not be put in enclosures with other types of slimes and instead must be put in ash troughs under incinerators.

The Fire Plorts that Fire Slimes produce don't make much money, and although raising Fire Slimes can be a hassle, their plorts help those in need who do not have access to sources of heat otherwise and are commonly used for stoves and fireplaces.

Like Gold Slimes, Lucky Slimes are exceedingly rare and seemingly impossible to capture. More closely related to Tabby Slimes than Gold Slimes, Lucky Slimes are obsessed with shiny objects and will eat any coins they see, causing them to jingle when they move. Lucky Slimes don't have a favorite food but will eat any meat, producing a hefty amount of money instead of plorts.

Because Lucky Slimes are seemingly incapable of producing any kind of plort, scientists have speculated that they're abnormal Tabby Slimes that somehow ended up eating too many coins rather than being a separate variant.

Angler Slimes are a new addition in Slime Rancher 2 and were previously only seen in the depths of the Slime Sea, but can now be seen popping up on the coastline of Rainbow Island. Using their lure they can stun chickens, which is useful for their meat-centric diet and eating their favorite food, Sea Hens.

Because Angler Slimes are so accustomed to living in the depths of the sea, they can withstand pressure, a characteristic replicated by the plorts they produce. Due to this characteristic, Angler Plorts are commonly used as material to make deep sea diving technology.

Batty Slimes are a new type of slime in Slime Rancher 2 that are similar to Phosphorous Slimes in that they prefer dark environments like caves, eat fruit, and are negatively affected by sunlight. Unlike Phosporous Slimes, sunlight only agitates Batty Slimes instead of causing them to disappear.

The plorts that Batty Slimes produce are used navigation and sonar technology, which can help explorers get through even the most daunting and complex ancient areas they may find themselves lost in.

Flutter Slimes are butterfly-inspired slimes that feed off of nectar rather than any other type of food slimes eat. Although they aren't the only slimes capable of flight, Flutter Slimes are the most adept at it.

A unique aspect of Flutter Slimes is that their aura reduces the agitation of other nearby slimes, so it's suggested that having them roam free around the ranch may be a worthwhile option. The plorts that Flutter Slimes produce aren't used as material.
