GRANTS PASS, Ore-- Rural Metro Fire firefighters had their hands full late Friday night and into early Saturday morning with two different fires.

According to RMF crews, Rural Metro and Grants Pass firefighters first responded to a chicken coop that caught on fire on Greenfield Road in Grants Pass around 11:30 Friday night.

We have learned that the fire did not spread to any other buildings in the area or the wildland, but a brood of baby chicken were killed in the blaze.

Rural Metro Fire is reporting that right now it does appear the fire was started due to a heating lamp coming into contact with flammable materials.
