(OLNEY) The Richland County Farm Bureau continues with its canned food drive now thru next Wednesday, October 12th. The canned and dry food items can be dropped off at the Farm Bureau Office in Olney, at 710 North West Street, from 9:00 to 3:00, each weekday, Monday through Friday. Monetary donations are also accepted. All items will then be donated to The Master’s Hands in Olney, to help out over 220 local families in need.

(FLORA) The Clay County Hospital will host a “cancer awareness block party” tomorrow at Charley Brown Park, at the west edge of Flora. Running from 12:00 noon until 10:00 that night, there will be healthcare booths available with all kinds of health information, plus a candle walk to honor cancer survivors, bingo, scavenger hunts, bouncy houses, cornholing, shirts for sale, and pulled pork sandwiches with all the sides. A movie will be shown at dusk with s’mores and popcorn available. All proceeds to the Clay County Cancer Crusaders.

(OLNEY) Project Community in Olney will have a fundraising pork burger cookout tomorrow at the Olney Rural King, with serving from 10:00 until 2:00. All donations made will go to Project Community’s “Splash Park” project to be located in Musgrove Park.

(NOBLE) The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District is offering another forklift training class tomorrow from 9:00 to 2:00 at the West Richland Center in Noble. Must be 18 years old to enroll and the cost is at $75 per person. Students will get classroom & hands on training on OSHA regulations, lift truck design, operating principles, load moving, driving evaluation, and more. (MT. ERIE) It’s the Mt. Erie Fall Festival this weekend in northern Wayne County, starting tonight with bingo at Mike’s Auction Barn & a live auction at the Mt. Erie Ruritan Building, both beginning at 6:00. Tomorrow morning’s activities include vendor markets, rides and inflatables for children, and a 5K run all at 9:00, followed by a cruise-in and tractor show at 11:00, and the parade at 12:00 noon. Then music by Union Road at 1:00, the chicken races at 3:00, pedal tractor pull at 4:00, the punkn chuckn at 5:00, bingo at 6:00, and movies on the corner. Sunday’s community church service starts at 10:00 with a community lunch at 12:00 in the Ruritan Building, and gospel music from 2:00 to 4:00. All ages are invited.

(DIETERICH) The Annual St. Paul Lutheran Church Corn Maze & Harvest Festival continues this weekend north of Dieterich, along the Dieterich/Montrose black top. Admission into the Corn Maze is $5 per person, free for children ages 5 and younger, and bring those flashlights for evening hours. Also train rides, games, and other activities are free for the children, plus concessions for sale. That’s tonight from 6:00 to 10:00, tomorrow from 11:00 to 10:00, and Sunday from 11:00 to 5:00. All are invited with two weekends remaining.
